Dr Chris Bollen is an experienced General Practitioner with a strong commitment to patient-centred care, continuity of care and helping patients make informed decisions about their health. He believes that taking the time to listen and understand each person is a critical part of providing meaningful healthcare. Dr Chris has particular interests in diabetes, heart disease, skin cancer, care of older people, dementia, men’s health, pain management, health education and quality improvement. With decades of experience in general practice, medical education, leadership and healthcare consulting, he brings a broad perspective to patient care while remaining focused on practical, personalised support that helps people achieve better long-term health outcomes.
About Dr Chris Bollen
Dr Chris Bollen was born and raised in Adelaide’s north-eastern suburbs and has worked within the local community throughout his medical career. He completed his medical degree at the University of Adelaide, graduating in 1987, and has worked as a General Practitioner in Adelaide since 1990. He obtained Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 1995 and later completed further studies in practice management, business and health service administration. Chris joined Oakden Medical Centre in 2014, drawn to the practice’s strong team-based approach and the opportunity to focus on patient-centred care. He believes that quality general practice is built on listening, trust and taking the time to understand each patient’s individual circumstances and goals. From 2003 to 2015, Chris was Director of General Practice Training at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he supported junior doctors and contributed to medical education and professional development. He also developed a Doctor’s Health program focused on supporting the wellbeing and self-care of junior doctors. Alongside his clinical work, Chris has been involved in healthcare consulting, quality improvement and change leadership. Outside of medicine, he values family, teaching, research and lifelong learning, while maintaining his own health through regular running and cycling throughout the Adelaide Hills.
