About Dr Leslie Mpala

Dr Leslie Mpala graduated from the Godfrey Huggins School of Medicine in 1991 and became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2005. Before settling in South Australia, he worked in New South Wales for several years and has gained experience across a diverse range of healthcare settings throughout his career. His professional background includes work in mine hospitals, mission hospitals, private practice partnerships and refugee camps through the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Leslie has also worked extensively with the Salvation Army, serving as a Regional Chairperson for the Salvation Army Medical Corps and contributing to medical care, mission hospital support and aid relief for disadvantaged communities. His experiences working with refugees and communities affected by conflict have had a profound influence on his outlook on life and healthcare, strengthening his commitment to compassion, dignity and helping others wherever possible. Dr Leslie’s clinical interests include musculoskeletal medicine, mental health in primary care, adolescent health, chronic disease management and general family medicine. He speaks both English and Shona and values the opportunity to support patients from diverse backgrounds. Outside of medicine, Leslie enjoys travelling, spending time with his family and listening to good music.
