Dr Pulak Sarker is an experienced General Practitioner who brings a broad background in hospital medicine, emergency care, rural general practice and family healthcare to his role at Oakden Medical Centre. He is passionate about providing friendly, practical and patient-centred care for individuals and families across all stages of life. Dr Pulak has particular interests in children’s health, geriatric medicine, chronic disease management, minor skin procedures, toenail procedures, men’s health, mental health and preventative healthcare. Known for his warm and approachable manner, he enjoys building strong relationships with patients and creating a relaxed healthcare environment where people feel comfortable discussing their concerns and actively participating in their care.
About Dr Pulak Sarker
Dr Pulak Sarker graduated from Rangpur Medical College in Bangladesh in 1990 before completing further studies in Auckland, New Zealand and later migrating to Adelaide in 2002. After arriving in South Australia, he joined Flinders Medical Centre and gained experience across a wide range of clinical areas including general medicine, cardiology, geriatric medicine, paediatric emergency care and general accident and emergency. In 2005, Pulak and his family moved to Naracoorte in regional South Australia, where he worked as a General Practitioner while also providing care through the local hospital’s Accident & Emergency department and managing hospital inpatients. He obtained Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2009 and continued working in Naracoorte for approximately 10 years before returning to Adelaide and joining the practice. Dr Pulak particularly enjoys caring for children and is known for his natural ability to quickly build rapport with younger patients and their families. His other clinical interests include minor skin surgery, toenail procedures, geriatric medicine, chronic health conditions and general family healthcare. Fluent in both English and Bengali, he is also able to support Bengali-speaking patients who prefer discussing their healthcare in their first language. Outside of medicine, Pulak enjoys spending time with his family and has a lifelong passion for cricket, proudly supporting both Australia and Bangladesh.
